500Million relief fund for Eastern Cape and KZN businesses effected by the flood

Following President Cyril Ramaphosa’s declaration of a National State of Disaster as a result of widespread flooding in KwaZulu-Natal and the Eastern Cape; as well fire outbreaks in Langa, Cape Town. The IDC has pledged R50 million to help communities affected by the recent floods and fires across the country.


The IDC requests proposals from registered NPOs, NPCs to partner with it in the implementation of this CSI Disaster Relief initiative. Proposals are required to assist the IDC to procure and distribute relief aids/goods e.g. shelter, food parcels, water, toiletries, blankets, mattresses, school books and uniforms.

Evaluation Criteria:

  • Registered organisations

  • At least 12 months in operation

  • Must have footprint in area of need (we are also considering applications for any disaster relief)

  • Capacity to go beyond urban areas

  • Proof of previous work done and provide traceable references

  • Demonstrate a proven collaboration and partnership approach especially with relevant government departments and other community based organisations

  • Accountability and professionalism

Documents to be submitted with your proposal:

  • Governance structure

  • B-BBEE certificate

  • Registration Certificate

  • Section 18A certificate / (10)(1)(f)

  • Founding documents of the organisation

  • Latest audited financial statements

  • Latest annual report

  • Proof of FICA compliant bank account

  • Letter from bank listing all signatories

  • Rental/ lease agreement or ownership of property (certified)

  • ID copies of board members (certified)
